So the NZOSS AGM seemed to go off well. It was good to see quite a few people turn up to the Wellington meeting, log into IRC as well as get together in Auckland and Christchurch.

Some good organisation, especially from Carl who organised all the motions so they could be voted on online in the blink of an eye.

I was elected President, a result which stands despite my request for a recount. Thanks to all that took the time to participate and to vote.

Also pictures from Mark Foster of the Wellington session.

I would draw your attention to this one.

Caption should read "Don Christie submits one last patch to the Linux Kernel before taking on his new role as president of the NZOSS. Ewen McNeill watches on".

Thanks to Vik Olliver for also standing for president. Vik was and is still an excellent candidate.

Peter Harrison, the outgoing president has managed to keep the NZOSS going through thick and thin. At times it has been very tough but I think all of us with an interest in FOSS can see the fruits of Peter's labours really coming through.

I am struck by just how potent a membership and council the NZOSS has. I really think it is a force to be reckoned with but not many people in the organisation quite realise this.

Now for the irony. On the bus this morning sitting next to an old friend. He had some news for me, I had some for him. He went first...

"Two more weeks and I start my new job."
"Cool, where are you going?"
"Microsoft."
